It’s too easy to get caught up in our daily life and fail to see the needs of others. And. If, we are only focused on self, we miss God’s blessings.
When we focus on God first, when we look outside of our circumstances, when we collaborate with others, when we choose to impact someone else, we experience the transforming blessings of God.
So. We can use the upcoming holiday season as a target to bless others.
Four organizations that need others to collaborate with them have impacted me and my family:
1. Holt International, the adoption agency that brought both Tim and Madelyn into our life, has helped thousands and thousand of children around the world: http://www.holtinternational.org/
2. Tricia found the New Day Foster Home in Beijing, China who began serving children through prayer and ended up providing a home for children with special needs: http://www.newdaycreations.com/foster/
3. Many people in our faith community have sponsored a child through Compassion International, an advocate for children who suffer from poverty: http://www.compassion.com/
4. My father has been a key volunteer for Salem, Oregon’s Salvation Army, who impacts children, adults and communities: http://www.salvationarmyusa.org/
Blessing others does not change our problems; however, we are strengthened and changed when we connect with the activity of God. We are blessed as we intentionally reach out to others, aligned with God to bring something good into their life. Jesus prayed it for us: “I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me (John 17: 20-21, NLT).
When we choose to bless others, we step into the divine plan of hope and a future, sharing Christ’s heart and mind for this world. There’s nothing more powerful and satisfying than to be part of Christ’s blessings to the world.
Consider stepping out of the dailyness of life to bless someone in this world. Do it today.
