Waking Up To Reality

My favorite time of the day is early morning.  I know.  Not everyone gets it. But.   I’ve enjoyed getting up early since I was in grade school.

It doesn’t matter where I am in the world, there’s a sense in the early morning hours, in the quietness of the day, in the stillness before most people are awake, before the world gets busy, before I’m off and running, that I know God is in the place I am in.

There’s a shift in the day when I wake up to the reality of God’s presence.  Genesis 28 paints a picture of the moment Jacob, one of the ancient patriarchs, woke up to the realization that God was present right where he was at:

Jacob woke up from his sleep. He said, “God is in this place—truly. And I didn’t even know it!” He was terrified. He whispered in awe, “Incredible. Wonderful. Holy. This is God’s House. This is the Gate of Heaven.”Genesis 28:16-17~The Message (MSG)

When I wake up in awareness I’m not alone, when I  recognize the presence of God, when I see divine reality, I’m made new all over again. It’s the gift of the day.  An incredible, wonderful, holy gift.

Question of the day:  Have you woke up to the reality of the presence of God today?

Great reminder that our God is with us wherever we go. As we are present in the moment, we recognize that we are not alone. Matthew 28:20 ……..And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

I love the quite of the morning when I can hang with our savior but to often opt for one more hour of sleep. Thank you for the reminder that the choice to rise early it worth that sweet time.
