It’s my wedding anniversary, which for twelve years has collided with the day the United States remembers horrific tragedy. It’s a day to be remembered.  It’s a day to fight for the things that matter.  It’s a day to give thanks.  It’s a day to bless others.  It’s a day to intentionally pay attention to God as the Psalmist wrote in Psalm 46:

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”  Psalm 46:10New International Version (NIV)

These simple words of the Psalmist have chased after me throughout my life.  It requires a conscious effort on my part to become still, to find the time to step out of all that is happening, solely focusing my whole mind, heart, soul, strength and energy on God.

And, in the moments, I’m completely and fully focused on God, I’m new, anticipating what more God will do.  So.

Today, I celebrate the joy of this day and humbly stand in the sorrow of so many, believing God will do more than could ever be imagined.
