It’s easy for me to look backwards and see what might have been. It’s the place where I miss those I love, wanting to experience life with them in the present. It’s the place where I dive into the depth of regret, knowing past decisions led to unnecessary challenges. It’s the place where doors have closed.
I’ve learned not to linger in what could have been but to leap into what is and could be.
The words of Marly Anderson, my friend, pastor, and mentor of long ago, continue to speak to me: PRESS ON. He encouraged me to cross the line and move forward with anticipation.
It’s what the Apostle Paul said to those who began the revolution of faith in Christ:
I PRESS ON to reach the end of the race
and receive the heavenly prize for which God,
through Christ Jesus, is calling us (Philippians 3:14, NLT).
I’m determined to PRESS ON, believing in the more of God, giving everything I have in me for what is ahead, crossing the line from what was to what is and will be.
Our Miss Ellie is a reminder that God is the God of more, challenging me to PRESS ON.
