The Challenge

Question: How will I occupy the space and time God generously gives?

I can give a quick answer to it, the kind that seems right and religious; however, it’s a process to not only find the answer but to live it out.   There’s no way to escape the pressure of success being evaluated through performance, position, power, and even possessions. It is what it is. Even so, it does not satisfy the deepest of needs. There’s always a need to have more, do more, and be more when life is lived from this vantage point.

When I faced the reality of death at any moment, the nothingness of life without God became clearer than ever before.

No human being can fill the deep void through performance, position, power, or possessions.

Before I honestly faced death, I received the words from Zechariah 4:6 as an invitation, a choice of sorts. Now, I see the words as a daily challenge: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty (Zechariah 4:6, TNIV)

The challenge requires daily surrender and agreement.

“God, I surrender________.”

“I choose to live in and through Your Spirit.”

It matters—Kerrie

  1. Great devotion – Interesting question to ponder- “How will I occupy the space and time God generously gives?” Love the picture you posted to accept the challenge!
    Love, Mom

  2. I read this scripture earlier today and then your devotional. God is very much speaking to me and directing me in whatever I am to do with the rest of my earthly life. From The Message, “So be content with who you are, and do not put on airs. God’s strong hand is upon you; he’ll promote you at the right time. Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you.”
I am so ready to be promoted to my eternal home! But know God’s timing is perfect.
