Some friends visited yesterday. Madelyn and Sydney enjoyed their attention and the brunch they served us. We talked mostly about summer fun. Our attention went mostly to the little girls. So. We did not get into the deep things of life.
But, I never want to miss an opportunity to pray, so, we prayed at the end of the visit. The thing is . . . secret needs of two of the friends were prayed about without discussing the details in advance . . . they confirmed their needs after praying. It was an unusual moment; God clearly is working out their once-secret-petitions.
A holy amazement infused us. It made me want to be more aware of the presence of God. It’s the assignment God gave Habakkuk:
“Look among the nations! Observe! Be astonished! Wonder! Because I am doing something in your days–you would not believe if you were told.” (Habakkuk 1:5, NLT).
When the lid of expectation is lifted, there’s a renewed freedom to anticipate more. It requires an active decision to look for God in each moment, even when things go sideways and life becomes complicated.
“I will climb up to my watchtower
and stand at my guard post.
There I will wait to see what the Lord says
and how he will answer my complaint.”
Whys give way to wows when we look for God in the midst of the circumstances of the day. There’s something amazing to be seen right now. Pray. Expect. Be amazed.
I hope you are taking the FIRST FIFTEEN CHALLENGE!

Madelyn and Sydney served coffee yesterday, wearing their new Starbucks aprons from Uncle Timmy. Can it be more fun? Just looking at them gives me reason to say “Wow, thank you God!”
