What, if, the daily headlines started with the seven-lettered word: A-M-A-Z-I-N-G?
Without a doubt, I would look forward to reading everything that was going on in the world.
The thing is . . . the words of Jesus in John 14:6 . . . happen to be the AMAZING revelation of an-ongoing-daily-headline for the “with-God” life:
I will ask the Father to send you another Helper, the Spirit of truth, who will remain constantly with you. 17 The world does not recognize the Spirit of truth, because it does not know the Spirit and is unable to receive Him. But you do know the Spirit because He lives with you, and He will dwell in you.
This needs to be underlined every single day: The Spirit of God lives with you and dwells in you.
THE EARLY CHURCH lived this headline–the Spirit of God was at work in the lives of THE CALLED –those who were the CHURCH. Chapter 3, 4, and 5 of the book of ACTS tell a part of the AMAZING story, a part of our story to be believed and lived. Look closely:
ACTS 4:31 They finished their prayer, and immediately the whole place where they had gathered began to shake. All the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began speaking God’s message with courageous confidence (Voice).
ACTS 5:12 Those were amazing days—with many signs and wonders being performed through the apostles among the people. The church would gather as a unified group in Solomon’s Porch, 13 enjoying great respect by the people of the city—though most people wouldn’t risk publicly affiliating with them (Voice).
The people courageously dared to live beyond the circumstances and troubles of the day,
and LED by the Spirit of God.
It was a new day, a time when the headlines of THE CALLED were known.
I’m looking forward to today and tomorrow’s A-M-A-Z-I-N-G headlines–Kerrie
